I found 2 big packs of squid today, and I hung out long enough that they decided I was ok and let me swim up very close to them. The colors in the pictures are all off - these today were a deep maroon color. with a blue stripe down their back and white and blue spots that are iridescent in the sun. My favorite thing about squid is the way they always swim in formation... where you find one, you'll find at least 2 more, and they ALWAYS swim at the exact same level, and in formation. If you scare them off, they'll scatter a little, but then totally regroup in their places. The last picture shows how some of them settled back in to their normal position wit their tails to the reef after they decided I wasn't hungry for calmari. In this one little pocket, there were probably 18 or so hanging out.
