Mosiac Canyon in Death Vally
So, I didn't quite realize until we got there just how BIG Death Valley really is. To requote from my childhood: "this is crazy - everything is hours away...." I had picked out several 2-3 mile trails for us to do, but because we like to enjoy everything along the way, and because it's a good 20 miles minimum between places we wanted to go, we settled on doing up the Mosaic Canyon trail really good :-)
We picked this one because the Narrows part of the trail was supposed to be single-file only, and they were right - it was some pretty tight cuts. Which made it spectacular as the cuts twisted and turned through the marble. Yup, that's right - it's marble walls. And boy, are they pretty in the sun. The canyon got its name from the natural concrete that formed, sticking all sorts of colorful rocks together. You can see some of this in the hard lines in the pictures
