So, here are the new bamboo shades, after a Sunday spent getting them ready for installation. Since each shade was originally $45, this should be about $150 worth of sunblock. Given that I found them for 4.99, had a 20% off coupon, and cut one blind in half to cover the two side windows, we're now done and only $8 into the project. Granted, it's one whole Sunday of out lives we'll never get back, since we had to cut all of these to fit using a Dremel in the back yard. And, we'll probably have to pay off our neighbors, since we did the cutting in our swimsuits (it was damn hot) and wearing dive masks (I couldn't find the damn safety goggles). We did, however, laugh a lot and find out that eyeballs really do sweat. Interesting.
