Missouri Photographs
This was one of the craziest and scariest storms I've ever been caught out in! Steve and I had gone for an afternoon walk in the sunshine. Off behind the house, I could see some thunderheads building, but they were a long way off, and it was perfectly calm and sunny. We had just gotten around the curve in the driveway when we felt the first cool breeze; by the time we got to the saddle in the driveway, 1/8 mile away, the wind was howling, and changed directions 180 degrees. It also dropped about 15 degrees in temp instantly. We both essentially ran back to the house, with one foot in the ditch, just in case we needed to take cover in it. As far as we know, it never did turn into a tornado, but it was one of the strongest microbursts I've ever felt. The sky was just crazy looking

The VW Bug, by the way, was ours. I'd never really been a huge fan of them, but as we spent more and more time driving it, we both really kind of fell for the car. It drives great, and there's enough room for Steve's mom to literally stand up in the back seat!

I really liked the sun on the grasses in front of the old rusty burn barrel. The other 3 pictures were taken on an early morning run. The very first morning we were there, Steve and I ran across a HUGE black snake in the road. It was easily 5-6 feet long and the quickest of looks at its head made it pretty clear that it was poisonous. Steve removed it from our running course ;-) and I spent the rest of the day lamenting the fact that I didn't get a picture of it. I went running with my camera every morning after that, but no more sneaky snakes.

I entertained myself mightily by taking hundreds and hundreds of pictures on the property in Missouri. I'm really becoming smitten with macro photography, so it was fun to run around and take lots of pictures of the flowers which were blooming their hearts out!
Lotsa Catching up
Ok - so I've been offline for a REALLY long time now. Two weeks ago, we left on an impromptu trip to Missouri to see Steve's folks, so that meant no internet access for a while. Then, we came back to PR to lots and lots of rain, which, or course, has to mean that our internet service goes down. I've been on the phone with the cable compnay every day we've been home, but it seems like we can never keep a live connection for more than a few minutes. This morning, it seems like it's working, so I'm going to try to catch up as many pictures as I can before the service kerflummoxes again.
Here's some pictures from 2 weeks ago out at the Slaughters. I absolutely love the one of his parents holding hands.
