We teach Mom to play wii...

And she then proceeds to kick both our butts! My mama can play one mean game of darts, let me tell you!

More shots of the rainforest. In the last 2 pictures, you can see more of those humongous ferns. I love the big fiddleheads that are sprouting up from the top of them!

Ok - it's been too long since I've updated the blog! Here are some of the pictures from the last weekend Mom was here on the island. The first three were taken here in Isabela, on a heck of a rainy, foggy day. The last picture was of one of the 20 foot tall ferns in the rainforest.

Trail through the foliage

Loved the quality of te light today. Unfortunately, camera batteries
dead, so just phone to try and catch the sunbeams!

Rail bed at Guajataca

End of the road

One of the cool thongs about Guajataca beach is that it's still got an
old railroad tunnel and portion of the railbed that you can walk down.
This is where the rr trail ends, and routes you down to the beach

So far, I think this has been mom's favorite beach.

Baby lizard!

I just never get tired of these little guys. This one was really friendly - he would have stayed and hung out on my hand or mom's shirt all night long!

snorkeling pictures from Jobos

I found a buddy in the water while snorkeling. This little fish stayed literally glued to me the whole time I was in the water. It didn't matter where I swam, or how big a wave broke over me, the fish stayed right on me. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen! It would actually let you touch it, and kind of cup it in your hand. I had a really hard time getting out of the water and leaving it behind!

Sunday at the beach

Sunday, we had breakfast on the porch again, then met up with some friends and took Mom to Jobos Beach to check out the Sunday shenanigans. Steve and I snorkeled, and Cory and I surfed, and Johanna kept us all company. After a day on the beach, we took mom to Ola Lola's, our favorite place in Aguadilla, to let mom try one of Elaine's heavenly burgers, and to get mom the best pina coloda on the island!

After dinner, we took mom to the Rincon lighthouse, which is just a beautiful place to be when the sun goes down

This is why we will NEVER own a new car while we're down here!

Trip to Rincon and Villa Cofresi

Saturday afternoon, we decided to take a trip to Rincon and see another part of the island. The restaurant at Villa Cofresi is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to eat, and we took mom there for an early supper. The restaurant is open air and right on the beach... pool tables, ping pong, dancing, and coconuts full of rum. Yum. They also have the best chicken alfredo going, so we all feasted.
